Help: MegatypeX

A megatype groups together reference types. Searching on a megatype is like searching on a group of types. For example, Assessment Reports, Prospector Reports, and Corporate Internal Files are grouped into the megatype Exploration Report. They can be retrieved by searching for the megatype Exploration Report.

The megatype selection list shows only the megatypes applicable to the current query. To see the megatypes applicable to the whole database, click on the "Reset query" button.

In the megatype selection list , a megatype may have a number (in parenthesis) indicating how many matching references are of that megatype. The various numbers form a big picture indicating how the matching references spread out among megatypes. For example, if you set the "Target of Exploration" selection to "Gold" and then click on "Submit query", the numbers will tell you which reference megatype has the most information on gold. Similarly, the numbers help to discover unexpected reference megatype which also has information on gold.

Note: Megatype selection is disabled if you have selected a type. To re-enable megatype selection, select {Any type} from the type selection list.

Help: TypeX

Types are reference categories based on the data source and the similarities or differences between references. One of the types is "Assessment Report INAC". It is for assessment reports submitted to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) by companies and individuals to describe exploration work done on their properties. Those reports are released to the public and archived by INAC after a period of confidentiality.

The type selection list shows only the types applicable to the current query. To see the types applicable to the whole database, click on the "Reset query" button.

In the type selection list, a type may have a number (in parenthesis) indicating how many matching references are of that type. The various numbers form a big picture indicating how the matching references spread out among reference types. For example, if you set the "Target of Exploration" selection to "Gold" and then click on "Submit query", the numbers will tell you which reference type has the most information on gold. Similarly, the numbers help to discover unexpected reference type which also has information on gold.

Note: Type selection is disabled if you have a megatype selected. To re-enable type selection, select {Any megatype} from the megatype selection list.

Help: Filing/Pub YearX

You can limit your search to a reference's publication year. For unpublished references such as exploration reports, the year refers to filing year, submission year, etc.

Enter a year (as a four-digit number) into both the left and right boxes. The matching references are those on or in between the two years.

To look for references on a particular year, enter the same year into both the first and second box.

To look for references on or after a particular year, enter a year only into the first box.

To look for references on or before a particular year, enter a year only into the second box.

?

For example:
  • 37 means the area covered by the map sheet 37.
  • 37G means the map sheet 37, block G - a 1/250,000 scale block with 1cm equals 2.5km.
  • 37G5 means the map sheet 37, block G, inner-block 5 - a 1/50,000 scale block with 1cm equals 0.5km.
